Founded in 1990 as a partner studio to Madhouse, Japan’s premier animation house, DR Movie steadily built its expertise. We became a trusted partner to renowned studios including Studio Ghibli, Tezuka Productions, TMS Entertainment, and Production I.G, contributing to landmark anime titles such as Spirited Away, Detective Conan, and The Girl Who Leapt Through Time.

In 2000, we expanded into original TV series production, establishing a comprehensive in-house pipeline covering everything from pre-production to main production. Broadening our reach to the North American market, we solidified our status as a global studio by animating superhero franchises for DC and Marvel. Today, DR Movie is a globally recognized production partner, actively creating content for major streaming platforms including Netflix, Crunchyroll, and TVING.

DR Movie is now evolving from a traditional animation studio into a comprehensive Creative Hub.
